Age is nothing but a number, and Stacey Ferreira is a perfect example for young women that it’s never too early to start pursuing your dreams. At 18, she sought to solve a common problem: keeping track of online passwords. After replying to one of Richard Branson’s tweets, Ferreira and her brother headed to Miami to pitch the billionaire mogul on their company MySocialCloud. Soon after, she received $1 million in funding from Branson and launched her company.
Like any true entrepreneur, Ferreira jumped right back into the saddle and began working on another company, AdMoar, which is based in San Mateo, Calif. She is also a Seventeen cover girl, a global speaker on entrepreneurship, and coauthor of the upcoming book, 2 Billion Under 20, which highlights 75 inspirational millennials from around the world.
“It seems like every day I’m meeting more young women stepping up to the bat and getting immersed in tech. I’m constantly impressed when I visit my friends at college campuses across the U.S. and see the ratios in class changing,” Ferreira says. “Every summer, that translates to the ratio changing in the bay and places like NYC, which gives me a lot of hope for the increase in women entering the tech space when they graduate.”
